The Astra is light but without pushing the carbon of the frame to the extreme (Approx weight 980 g) and adopts Basso’s high-profile technological solutions. The Basso geometry
Astra’s geometry is the most complete Basso of all, derived from the steel models. A bike which has improved year after year, preserving the racing DNA but making it transversal and able to adapt to those who don’t want a super racing feel every day. Consistent with its past, but capable of perfecting itself from model to model becoming more versatile but still maintaining total comfort providing the best experience when cycling in Mallorca.

Below is everything you need to know about Mallorca Cycling Holidays bike hire.
What sizing are you?
When booking your bike please check the Basso Bikes geometry. The sizing may be different to the current bike you ride. If on the line of the sizing we recommend you size down.
What gear ratios are fitted on the bikes and what type of components are on the bikes?
Our bikes come with a 50 /34 compact chain set. The cassettes are 11-34. All the bikes are equipped with Shimano 12 speed Ultegra di2 with disc brakes.
How are the brake set up?
All brakes are set up with European braking. Front brake will be on the left. All our bikes are with disc brakes giving extra additional braking power.
Do you provide pedals with the bike hire?
We recommend to bring your own pedals or you can hire them (€6 for up to 7 days). We have Shimano or Look pedals available.
Do you provide a saddle bag and pump with the bike hire?
We provide a saddle bag, which includes 1 x inner tube, tyre lever and 6mm hex key. We do NOT provide a pump. Please remember to bring one.
Why do I have to pay an insurance fee for the bike hire?
We charge a small fee for Minor Damage Insurance to give our customers peace of mind during their rental. This covers minor damage that can occur during normal use such as small scratches, scuffs, or minor drivetrain wear helping protect both you and the bike.
We don’t charge a large amount for the insurance because our goal is to make bike hire as accessible and stress-free as possible. The small fee is simply to cover basic accidental damages. We want riders to enjoy their trip without worrying about minor incidents, while still encouraging responsible use of the equipment. Charging a modest amount strikes a fair balance between protection for both the customer and our bikes. Please read our Terms & Conditions before booking.
INSURANCE AND BOOKING TERMS
Rental & Pricing
We provide our own bicycle rental service, subject to the pricing displayed at the time of booking on our official website. By booking a rental, the client agrees to these terms and the advertised rental rates.
Insurance & Liability
Mallorca Cycling Holidays holds public liability insurance for bicycle rentals, provided by Mapfre. A copy of the insurance conditions is available on request via email.
The client agrees to use the bicycle responsibly and in compliance with Spanish traffic laws, specifically Royal Decree 1428/2003 and Royal Legislative Decree 339/1990. The client is liable for any damage to the bicycle resulting from misuse or traffic violations during the rental period.
Accidental Damage Insurance (Mandatory)
Accidental damage insurance is required for all rentals:
- €15 per rental (up to 7 days)
- €20 per rental (8 days or more)
This insurance covers minor, accidental damages to the frame, wheels, tires, saddle, and components. It does not cover:
- Irreparable damage to components, frames and wheels
- Damage resulting from crashes, poor treatment, or deliberate misuse
- For irreparable damage a repair quote will be provided and charged accordingly.
- Failure to pay in accordance with our Terms and Conditions will result in your details being passed to the Guardia Civil and legal action being pursued for recovery of outstanding charges.
- A replacement bike will be offered subject to availability. No refund will be issued if a replacement is not available due to customer fault.
Theft & Responsibility
The customer is fully responsible for the security of the rented bicycle. In the event of theft due to inadequate security measures, the customer must reimburse the wholesale value of the bicycle.
Mallorca Cycling Holidays accepts no liability for accidents or crashes involving the rented bicycle.
Booking Modifications & Cancellations
Date Changes:
- Allowed up to 30 days before scheduled arrival.
Cancellations:
- A credit valid for 12 months or an invoice for insurance claims will be provided upon cancellation.
- If an invoice is issued, the credit becomes void.
- Cancellations after 21 days from booking are non-refundable.
- A 21-day grace period applies only to pre-booked bikes made 30+ days before the start date.
- No refunds or credits are available for:
- On-site bookings made at the shop
- Transfers of rentals to another person within 30 days of booking start
- No refund or credit for booking the incorrect size, If you’re unsure about sizing, feel free to contact us in advance.
Credits for canceled bookings before the 30-day window will match the original booking value. The 12-month credit period begins on the original booking start date.

Is it law to wear a helmet in Mallorca?
It is a law to wear a helmet whilst cycling in Mallorca. Please don’t forget to bring your helmet.
What Should I bring with me?
Please bring your shoes, helmet and Garmin/Wahoo mount if you use one. If you would like to use your own saddle this can be swapped on arrival. Please don’t forget to take it home with you.
What time and where can I collect and return the bike?
We open at 08.00-13.00 then 15.00-19.00. Please return the bike by 18.00 on your last day. Our bike hire shop is located on the ground floor of Cabot Pollenca Park and Spa, Carrer del Bot, 5, 07470 Pollença, Illes Balears
