Cycling in Italy means cycling the Dolomites!

This trip is a fantastic addition to our line up of holidays, an experience we just had to share.

Our mission when we started planning cycling holidays in the Dolomites was simple. To provide the best cycling experience for cyclists who want to achieve the ultimate summits in cycling.

This July, Mallorca Cycling Holidays visited the Dolomites to create a new collaboration for the summer 2023. We wanted to offer you the opportunity to discover and fall in love with the beautiful Italian Mountains in an area known as ‘The gateway to the passes’.

Come Cycling in Italy with us!

Where do you stay?

Hotel Melodia del Bosco is located 1315 m above sea level in the very heart of the Alta Badia region, surrounded by the stunning Dolomites. With incredible views and stunning mountain scenery it will take your breath away even before you start the first climb.

The day starts with a delicious  breakfast with a wide choice of sweet and savoury food, also you will have the choice of hot food served to you at the table. You can fuel up with lots of energy to get ready for a busy day of cycling.

Dinner is an incredible experience and caters for all palettes and dietary requirements.  Precise and efficient with taste and beautiful presentation your tastebuds will be very satisfied. Upon entering the dining room, a salad bar awaits, but it is much more than just a buffet. You can choose from a wide variety of vegetables, finger foods and fruits. The salad bar alone would be enough for a complete dinner (but not for all cyclists!). You will follow your appetiser with a stunning 4-course menu with a vegetarian option. On a personal note we loved all the food, the only problem was that our stomachs didn’t have enough capacity to eat everything!

Wellness, relax, recover and ride again.

Recharge and relax after a long day on the bike by choosing from the Finnish sauna, the steam bath, the herbal sauna or the infrared sauna; wash away your weariness and take it easy on the waterbeds. Stretch your muscles in a fully equipped gym or help your body to recover with a massage. Quite simply you have everything you need to recover before taking on more incredible cycling in the Dolomites.

Bike Hire

If you would like to hire a bike the hotel is equipped with Basso Bikes. Specifically the Astra model which is the perfect companion for cycling in the Dolomites. With Shimano di2 disc and 50/34 chain set and a choice of 32 or 34 cassette, you will not run out of gears for the toughest of climbs.

Rides and Routes

With local knowledge and partners on the ground we can create the best routes to make sure all the riding boxes are ticked. We can plan something bespoke for your group to make sure you climb and conquer the most iconic passes in the Dolomites. From the the famous Sella Ronda loop to the to the mighty Passo Giau you will be talking about cycling in the Dolomites long after the trip has finished.

65km with 1900m climbing

A must for every cyclist coming to cycle in the Dolomites. Four iconic climbs and an incredible loop of this beautiful area.

Riding: 100km and 3,500 of climbing

The Queen stage of the trip. The challenging tour of the Passo Giau plus two more Dolomite classic climbs are waiting for you. The Campagnolo Pass and the Passo Valparola. After almost 90 kilometres and almost 2,700 meters in altitude, your legs and lungs will certainly know about this loop when relaxing about the hotel.

The day starts comfortably to warm the legs up after a big day in the mountains the day before. After that, the only way is up, the goal  is to climb to the mountain inn in South Tyrolean and taste the traditional farmhouse cuisine. Distance 75km and 1200m climbing.

We finished the trip with an epic ride to the famous ski destination Cortina d’ampezzo. After a coffee stop in downtime Cortina you will then climb and ride around the breathtaking lakes before taking on one last climb back before descending back to the hotel to celebrate an unforgettable week cycling in the Dolomites. Ride is 110km 2,800m climbing.

Routes may vary depending on cycling ability and weather conditions

After an incredible week you will get ready to leave this breathtaking area. We guess you will already be dreaming of coming back (once rested) for another amazing cycling experience in the Dolomites.
