Why a cycling experience with us in the Pyrenees ?

When we’re not in Mallorca, we run our MCH on Tour Experiences over the summer. The Pyrenees is one of our favourite destinations celebrated for its authenticity, legendary climbs featured in the Tour de France, and the rustic charm of its simple way of life.

We are a team of cycling experts, with our headquarters in Mallorca, who take care of over 1000 customers each year. ACCOMMODATION

The Base Camp of Your Stay at the Foot of the Tourmalet

Offering stunning views of Bastan, this hotel presents a relaxed atmosphere and is housed in a beautiful 19th-century Belle époque-style building. Located in Luz-Saint-Sauveur, it’s within a 5-minute walk from the ruins of the Château Sainte-Marie, which dates back to the 10th century and 23 km from the famous Gavarnie circus. It has a charming feel with traditional elements of the Pyrenees blue printed into its furnishings and design.

Whether you’re craving, steak (we recommend the hotels) garbure and lamb, artisanal cheese, or a relaxed pizza evening, there’s a spot to match. BOOKING AS A GROUP

We welcome groups, businesses, charities, and friends to join us for a cycling holiday in the Pyrenees. We can comfortably host groups of 10-20 people, and you will receive full support each day from an experienced guide, mechanic assistants, and vehicle support. To capture the highlights of each ride, we will provide a photo pack. 

Bike hire and Bike friendly

If you’re interested in renting a bike, we have trusted partners on the ground whom we can recommend. For cycling in the Pyrenees, we suggest going for a 50/34 chainset with a choice of 32 or 34 cassettes. There is a secure garage available at the hotel for storing your bike, as well as access to a variety of tools and cleaning equipment.

Arrival

Recommended airports for the Pyrenees is Toulouse-Blagnac Airport. 2 hours travel time to your hotel or Lourdes airport 30 minute travel time your hotel. Group transfers can be arranged on request or if travelling solo we can help to try and buddy you up to share a car hire. 

Itinerary

First things first, you are headed to the high mountains. This means you will be climbing; if you are expecting flat roads, then you might have chosen the wrong trip! If you are seeking to challenge yourself and want to achieve some incredible riding, then keep reading. Cycling in the Pyrenees can offer epic days out, but even one iconic Col a day could be enough for you. We will design an itinerary that takes on 1-2 Cols each day with rides ranging from 60 to 100km and around 2000m of climbing. See below for the famous climbs you will ride.

Distance decided on the day

Set up your bike or collect from a local shop ( 2 minute walk from the hotel). One of our guides will be on hand to help and assist. 

No official ride on the first day but if you would like to check the legs and go for a spin we can provide a route. 

70km with 1500m climbing

The Hautacam is a renowned mountain climb located in the French Pyrenees, popular among cycling enthusiasts and nature lovers. Situated in the Hautes-Pyrénées department, this scenic ascent begins near the town of Argelès-Gazost and rises to an elevation of approximately 1,520 meters. The climb stretches over 13 kilometers with an average gradient of 7.8%, offering challenging yet rewarding terrain for cyclists. The Hautacam is famous for its appearances in the Tour de France, often serving as a dramatic mountain finish that tests the endurance of even the most elite riders. Surrounded by breathtaking alpine scenery, the route offers panoramic views, peaceful pastures, and a true taste of Pyrenean beauty.

90km, 2500m

The Col des Tentes is a stunning high-altitude mountain pass is one of the highest paved roads in the entire range. Situated above the Gavarnie Valley, the climb reaches an altitude of 2,208 meters, making it a remarkable destination for road cyclists seeking dramatic alpine scenery without the crowds found. Luz Ardiden adds another thrilling test for cyclists, with its 13.1 kilometers of winding roads and an average gradient of 7.6%, ending at a famous ski resort perched at 1,720 meters. Both climbs are steeped in Tour de France history and offer stunning panoramic views, alpine landscapes on more famous climbs like the Tourmalet.

Queen Stage 

121km, 4100m (can decide a shorter route on the day. 

Climbing both sides of the Col du Tourmalet and the Col d’Aspin offers a legendary cycling experience in the French Pyrenees, perfect for riders seeking iconic climbs and breathtaking mountain scenery. The Col du Tourmalet, at 2,115 meters, is one of the most famous passes in Tour de France history, featuring challenging ascents from both Luz-Saint-Sauveur and Sainte-Marie-de-Campan, each offering over 17 kilometers of relentless climbing with gradients averaging around 7–8%. Nearby, the Col d’Aspin provides a slightly gentler but still rewarding challenge, with ascents from Arreau and Payolle, both known for their scenic forest roads and panoramic views. Tackling the Tourmalet and Col d’Aspin from both sides not only pushes your endurance but also immerses you in the heart of Pyrenean cycling culture. Ideal for cycling holidays and Tour de France route chasers, this route combination is a must for any serious cyclist looking to conquer classic climbs in the French Pyrenees.

93km, 1900m climbing 

Cycling the Col d’Aubisque is a bucket-list experience for road cyclists exploring the French Pyrenees. Sitting at an elevation of 1,709 meters, the Col d’Aubisque is one of the most iconic and scenic climbs in the Tour de France, often paired with the Col du Soulor for an unforgettable ride. The most popular ascent starts from Laruns, covering around 16.6 kilometers with an average gradient of 7.2%, offering stunning views, dramatic cliffs, and tight switchbacks. From the east, riders can climb via the Col du Soulor from Argelès-Gazost, adding another layer of challenge and beauty to the route. With breathtaking high-mountain scenery, a dramatic ridge ride between Soulor and Aubisque, and deep Tour de France history, the Col d’Aubisque is a must-ride for any cyclist looking to test their legs on a true Pyrenean classic.
