The first Maratona dles Dolomites was run on 12 July 1987. This was a celebration of the first ten years of the cycling club Societá Ciclistica Alta Badia-Raiffeisen. The route was unique and snaked through seven Dolomite passes. The first edition had just 166 participants. Today it attracts nearly 9000 riders and become legendary on the Gran fondo calendar as one the must do cycling event in the world.

Hotel Melodia del Bosco is located 1315 m above sea level in the very heart of the Alta Badia region, surrounded by the stunning Dolomites. With incredible views and stunning mountain scenery it will take your breath away even before you start the first climb. positioned on 3,4km from the start you will be perfectly positioned to get to the start line.
Your day starts with a delicious breakfast with a wide choice of sweet and savoury food, also you will have the choice of hot food served to you at the table. You can fuel up with lots of high energy food to get ready for an amazing day of cycling.
Dinner is an incredible experience and caters for all palettes and dietary requirements. Upon entering the dining room, a salad bar awaits, but it is much more than just a buffet. You can choose from a wide variety of vegetables, finger foods and fruits. The salad bar alone would be enough for a complete dinner (but not for all cyclists!). You will follow your appetiser with a stunning 4-course menu. Precise, tasty and with beautiful presentation. Your tastebuds will go through culinary journey leaving you satisfied and full.
After your ride, you can relax, recover, and re-energize. You can choose between several options, including the Finnish sauna, steam bath, alpine herb sauna, or infrared sauna to recharge your legs, body, and mind. Additionally, you can rest on water beds to escape the stresses of your daily routine. To treat yourself further, you can book a sports massage directly at the hotel.
If you would like to hire a bike the hotel is equipped with Basso Bikes. The Astra model is the perfect companion for cycling in the Dolomites. With Shimano di2 disc and 50/34 chain set and a choice of 32 or 34 cassette, you will not run out of gears for the toughest of climbs. At the hotel their will also find a secure garage for your bike and a wide range of tools and cleaning equipment.
Recommended airports for the Maratona dles Dolomites in the are Venice Marco Polo, Venice Treviso, or you might even consider Munich. We recommend making your own way to the region as this is the most cost-effective way of travel.
In the days leading up to your epic gran fondo ride, we want you to feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible. Our pre-event rides are a perfect opportunity for you to activate your legs, warm up your muscles and get familiar with the surrounding landscapes and terrains.
